WIDOW AID FOUNDATION COMMISSIONS A NEW HOME FOR AN INDIGENT WIDOW, TO MARK INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2026

Widow Aid Foundation marked a defining moment in its humanitarian journey with the commissioning of its Widow Shelter Project on March 8, 2026, at Naze, Owerri Imo State, in celebration of International Women’s Day.
The project provided a safe and comfortable home for Mrs. Adaeze Ekwonu, a widow and mother of four, offering her family, stability after years of hardship.
The First Lady of Imo State, Her Excellency Barr. Chioma Uzodimma, was represented at the event by the Imo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Mrs. Nkechi Ugwu, who commended the initiative and reaffirmed support for women-focused interventions. Also in attendance were key stakeholders, including some members of the Imo State House of Assembly and the Managing Director of Imo Microfinance Bank.
In his remarks, the Founder of Widow Aid Foundation, Amb. Iroh Faithful, described the project as a bold step toward sustainable support for indigent widows.
The highlight of the event was the emotional appreciation from Mrs. Ekwonu, whose new home marks the beginning of a brighter future for her family.
